Oh. My. Gosh.

Over the past few days I've been trying to set up a second monitor on my Pavillion Vista PC. After trying three monitors and downloading countless drivers, its still not happening.  Every time I tried it, it came up with the same 'Cannot find driver info" error. So I do a Google search, and turns out millions of people are having these problems.
A) Nvidia flat-out lied, telling that their drivers were fully Vista compatible
B) almost no other companies spent time to make a Vista driver for their monitors.
Seriously, WTF!?!?! As far as I can tell, there's absolutely nothing I can do, seeing as how so few systems allow Vista to dualmon, and certainly none that are free! Any thoughts, ideas, sympathies?
